people / 人

Today is Friday. Though we can always feel that jovial atmosphere on the day before the weekend and the temperature rose even higher than yesterday, we still rushed out early to sign up for the popular screen printing workshop today. I encountered Kwok, the British Chinese from the green printing workshop the other day. We chatted about the life here and he couldn't help asking me if I hadn't felt at all the sluggish, or dead economy here. I said, "Think in this way, people in my country work much harder. Even students leave home at around 6 or 7. If you look on the bright side, you can say that the quality of life is better here."

The lecturer of the screen printing workshop Robert was listening to rock and roll music before letting students in. When the course was about to begin, he practically jumped out and started an extremely lively and hilarious one-man show. He led students around in the huge printing room. He was so much at ease that after he mixed the ink, he spread the color directly onto his white T-shirt. The students gave off a ghastly scream while he replied calmly that his mom is good at washing clothes. When everyone took their turns to print a poster, I didn't press hard enough so the ink didn't stick. He, however, told me, "Fantastic! You learned something from your mistake!"

In the afternoon J had planned to check out certain restaurants for her wedding banquet, but within one day, because of her parents' opposition, she had to pull a sudden brake. On a super sunny day, J sighed and moaned. I then let her decide wherever she felt like going.

We sat in front of the French window of a sushi shop. We were just looking casually at people passing by, but then we got more and more serious. We started to critique the clothing of passers-by, different aesthetics of Westerners and Asians, and we always ended up discussing life and more life. While I was having fun, some men couldn't help giving me smiles when they saw me laugh happily in sunglasses. It is extremely intriguing to observe people in London, and I guess I'll never feel tired even after watching them for three or four hours. This city is a huge free stage. If you don't take your chance to show yourself, it'll be utter waste.

When we were about to shake off the sad topic of not being able to get married for the time being, a double-decker sailed into our view. It was packed with well-dressed men and women. Some ladies even held masks of the royal family waving at passers-by. And on the bus was written "Wedding Special." We guessed it must be the creative idea of a newly-wedded couple. However, I could feel J's silent bleeding inside.

When we look at others, they must be judging us as well, which will last all our life. I told J that it's not a bad thing to take things slow. Maybe she will come up with a very definite answer after she thinks over everyone's opinions and goes on a trip. At least I hope when others watch me, they'll say, This is someone who takes her time. She'll go over important suggestions from others when faced with major decisions in life, but she will by no means miss crucial opportunities. She leads her life with passion and calm.
